Windows can be scrolled up/down with Pg Up and Pg Down keys.If they don’t work for you, use Meta-p and Meta-n keys.Despite the relatively recent dominance of the large social networks IRC maintains its position as a highly relevant and popular platform for free communication, free idea sharing and free expression. IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is one of the main communication channels for open source projects. You can always ask a question on IRC and you don't need to ask if you can ask a question. For jumping to beginning or end of the buffer, use Clearly the easiest way is to use Meta-number keys.Meta usually means the ALT key, but if that doesn’t work, you can use ESC.To modify existing networks (or servers, or channels) just ADD again using the same name as before. This configures a network to identify with nickserv and wait for 2 seconds before joining channels: No other irssi settings are needed (don’t enable bell_beeps), but there may be settings to change in your terminal multiplexer (screen/tmux), your terminal, or your desktop environment.
Unfortunately this does mean the daily backups of the old server will no longer be occurring but hopefully nothing will fail before I complete the move to the new server, or maybe I can find an old 20gb or larger IDE drive to use to restore the backup system.
You can freely join a channel that suits your interests if you are looking for help or interested in contributing. The etiquette of IRC is such that you don't even need to say "hi" when you join and you can lurk in the channel for as long as you'd like unless you have a specific question or want to share your view in a discussion. Instead, go ahead and provide all the details relevant for your question. It probably means no one knows the answer and no one feels responsible to say that they don't. Try asking your question when the channel seems livelier.
A page about contributing to any open source project will typically have its IRC channel listed. For example, if you have a build problem, you can put the error message into an online pastebin and post the link in the IRC channel, asking for help. It's possible that the one person who would know the answer is not online or is busy. In the meantime, look for an answer on the web an extra time.
It's pretty cheap to fund a copy for yourself and the author only gets the money if they reach their goal in the next 8 days, so spread the word.
UPDATE: They extended the deadline so you now have about 26 days.
